Think he just sucked and gave up.

Best advice: Go slumming... every time.
Next advice: Always keep your life high. Anything can happen.
Next advice: You can't run from robbers, so by trying, you're just giving up a turn to attack.
Next advice: Keep your attack and defense up constantly by getting new weapons/armor. Take turns between the two to make sure they are both going up.
