Yes, a lot of reps on this site are fake. They are easy to detect if you know how to look though.
Old members with trading reputation spread out over years (from legit users) are what you can hope for.
100% safe? nope. 90% safe? Sure, as long as you don't upfront 1000$. Most people would be tempted to scam that if they could get away with it...
Remove reputation is just a stupid idea. It's not like ebay feedback is 100% watertight either. People sell small cheap items until they get a lot of positive feedback. Then pull off big scams... |

this is 100% the problem.
people just see "12" or 24" etc and think oh 12 people trust this guy, i should too.
it's their fault. rep system is a perk over d2jsp imo.

i think the reps a good idea. it give people a chance to say if the person is trash or a gm user.
but can also see how it could be abused..

That does not make sense at all ...
Most of people here came only to sell 1 - 5 k fgs (d2jsp), post 2 - 3 messages, and left the forum until they got an other 1 - 5 k fgs to sell. So ofc it's important for them to receive reps, in order to see if they are trusted or not. And ofc, they will NEVER reach 75 posts in their life, because they don't give a shit about the forums, and only want to sell quickly some fgs for gold ...
But every reputations should have been checked by mods.
Or all reputations should be removed. |

and the mods couldn't possible review each rep to make sure its legit... that is just silly.
if you are willing to trust someone with no posts, guild, etc simply because they have 9 reps, and you don't take the time to look over the 9 reps and who repped them.. well stupidity pays for itself.

Reps are deff a 1up on d2jsp. it gives people to put their views on another person they may have traded with, if they had problems, if it was smooth. ect....
as long as noobtards dont keep posting fake reps, then it will be a reliable system to those who take the time to use it.
