Post#1 Posted: 01 Nov 2008 12:43 am    Post subject: Future of the forum Reply with quote

We all know that Diablo III will come out sooner or later and if tramway keeps this site then it will probably blow up with a lot more active members.

People here now have an advantage than the people that will join in the future. One example would be forum gold. Let's say I start to save forum gold from now until Diablo III comes out. This would be nice for me but in reality it would very unfair to new members trying to move up because I would probably have thousands of fg.

I want to suggest two types of currency: forum gold and X (whatever name). Forum gold would be converted for the people who are here at the moment to X before D3 hits stores and everyone would go back to 0 fg. X currency would be used for games, status buying, etc. and forum gold would be strictly for trading. Forum gold would be able to convert to X but not vice versa.
Or we could do a full reset and start from scratch or have two forums, one still active (this one) and a new one with the same members and status but with no fg. The problem with that would be the money tramway would have to spend to keep both up and not to mention mods.

And for people who were loyal here, before D3, could get some reward and be turned into a Council member or have a special status. Like having a requirement of 500 helpful posts and at least 6 months since joining.

What do you guys think or suggest?

I think it will be fine because the new comers as we shall call them Can earn the fg the exact same way we did when we came except there prob wont be a reward for posting soon
They can trade/and or Donate.
My views.

They will be able to earn it that way but it is very unfair in a NEW game that someone would already have a massive advantage.

Like I said before people here who are active now could be rewarded and keep their donate and other status.

That is Diablo II items you are talking about. I'm talking about Diablo III. Let me give you an example here Blizzard decides to transfer all your equipments and gold from Diablo II to this new game Diablo III. How do you think a new person playing the game would feel?

Yes, you're right but what if I had 50,000 fg you think you'll ever catch up to me as a new member? Do you know how long it will take?

That was just one of the suggestions if people didn't like everything being reset. I do agree that only one should be kept but with a fg reset.

u can have as many fg as you want lol none cares too much.
its not like when somebody gets 50k fg on this site tramway will take it away
because ''its not fair to others'' , there are poor there are rich and there are super rich
ull have to live with that.

the only thing i may agree on would be my current fg bein traded in for "x" fg...Such as 5 of current fg =2 of "x" fg. but i still want to have my superiority over new comers.... No need to drop us all down to the ditch for people who just decided to join. thats like saying some guy joined today and he'll never catch up with me in fg so i should start over

Yes because we're still in Diablo II. A game that has been out for many years so of course people have had time to build up whatever and a new member in the D2 game is just out of luck because he didn't start playing when it first came out or way long before.
What you're not understanding is that Diablo III will be a whole new thing for everybody.

My point is that inflation will happen.

You won't be dropped down the ditch that's why in the suggestion I said that you would keep your donating stars, members ++, join date, rep etc.. In that way you will feel superior to other members who just joined and get some type of special status.

Trading in D3 is a bit different.
I think they are going to have "binding" items like in WoW.

But no I disagree with this.
They could just as easy join now and make the fg, rather then join later.
And chances are most of them are from d2jsp as it is, so they'll already have some funds to mess around with.

If anything it will be unfair to US since they already have d2jsp fg.

My stand on this is, I came into this world naked, no money, Crying and cold.
I had people help me till I could walk.
I learned to walk and after that everything was fine, I walked around a lil more and seen what I liked to do.
Sometimes I would run there, sometimes I would crawl still.
But in the end, I always got what I needed to survive.
It was never a struggle it was always a learning experience as it still is for everyone.
And it will always be.
I propose no to this idea as it does not make it fair for those who are already walking, some just learn faster.
Spread the word that D3Jsp is Taking over, and will be used for DiabloIII.
Give all those people a chance, help them stay informed.
Help others Utilize the tool of knowledge to succeed with the new DiabloIII on our D3Jsp Forum derisive

If you didn't understand the analogy I just made, ask someone to explain it to you.

I guess this site isn't gonna have more active members since everyone is going to stay in d2jsp, shit maybe I should save up there.

That's not totally true, there are more active members every month.
Some stay for extended time and some are away for a moment and return.
The sites traffic has increased in the past 6 months and it continues to grow.
One thing for sure is, People always save.
Its a strategy practiced by everyone.

Yes, You have also just cleared up the topic, and made it clear with that reply that this is a irrelevant topic and there is no relevant point behind the post subject.
What remains is the forum will continue it's growth and the new members will gain fg with time invested into it, They will purchase/trade for it just as we have when the game is released.
