Why is it retarded / not necessary?
It's given me quite a noticeable boost on my computer performance

NN to oc, you should be able to run anything without oc. you're just cutting lifespan!

iso pic of case

not really, i played guild wars 2 on my computer without OC and it runs nice but in World vs World (Lot's of damn PvP huge battles) it becomes slightly skippy

Now that I OC'd my CPU + GPU, it runs smoothly like a movie

This OC helped increase performance by a huge amount.

and i don't need huge space for hdd cuz i use 3 tb external hdd
500w psu is my old psu for my old computer but it runs my comp fine no problems

idk i'll rattle off a few reasons

security
100% free
BEST support ever
there are SO many distros tailored for different things
you can create live usb's with them with persistent memory for pro-ness
GREAT for fixing/trouble shooting pcs (especially ones windows experiences errors before it can even boot)
sleek sexy GUI

amongst others

i mean google it. the only downside is *some* games have a problem with runnin linux (usually only on release, it gets support asap)

my laptop runs Backtrack5 rv2, my desktop runs Kubuntu and W7
my server runs on linux (best server OS ever!)
open source technology > all

yeah there is a lot lol.

I would run Ubuntu. get the feel of ubuntu and you can pretty much use any distro with ease.

+ the terminal is fucking boss. you can literally do anything with the terminal.
its a more powerful version of the windows command prompt

at first it will be a little bit confusing.. because windows is like hardwired into your brain. you've used it all your life I assume.

once you learn it you will laugh at people using windows/mac

not a lot of reading.
don't need to read anything really...
it's just partitioning.

like i have a 750gb harddive - 300gb kubuntu partition 300gb windows partition and the other 100 is misc.

so no, you wont lose any files you already have. (provided you partition X gbs instead of reformatting the whole drive) which you can do in windows, via Gparted, or just during the linux install.

Google wubi - it's probably the best place to start.

yah another awesome perk is

backtrack has built in educational tools for cracking/monitoring wifi networks in your laptops range
and with the terminal, you can literally crack any WEP encryption and with some elbow grease WPA+
if you got a laptop try it on you own router
