Fan broke,,,,think harddrive went with it....

replace the fan and harddrive then
if the harddrive is bad replace it and reformat
if the fan went bad replace that as well
though lap tops are a terror to work on |

the quickest and most lazy work would be sending it in for repair...
plus... if you open a laptop... the warranty is voided... so its better to send it in i say...

like take it out and do something...
and i think the warranty ended. had it for couple years

i dont think
you can unless
you have appropriate education and parts of the fan
and know how to replace these small parts of fans.
I had the same problem earlier (with fan)
just went to store and they replaced it
doesnt cost that much

if its a desktop it would be ALOT easyer to fix...
my desktops have broken anytimes... and i always managed to fix them lol
but i have never opened my laptop... and dont want to lol

I have. My fan was making very loud noise because of the bearing.
If you want to get a new one find out the part number for it from tech support or look in your user manual, the user manual can also be found online if you lost yours.
Once you find the part number just do a search on the internet, eBay is good or order from the direct company.
Opening it up took a while because it was also my first time, but the user guide really did help. Make sure to put your screws in the right spot so you don't lose them or put them in a pile with the same length.
The hardest part for me was the very last screw. It didn't want to come out and I had chipped the screw because the screwdriver ripped the thing so I couldn't grasp it anymore. I had to take out the motherboard lay it out on a surface that wouldn't damage it and use a drill to get the damn screw off.
Nothing broke though and I did everything carefully. Put the new fan on easily and now it works perfectly (nothing was damaged by the drill).
what laptop model is it?

id say yorud be better off takign it in for repair
replaicng anything on a laptop except the ram and maybe the hard drive
is a real PAIN
sersouly those parts are just to small to make it easy |

i'm tempted to open the laptop and try to fix it myself.
Cause i don't want to drive all the way to the shop to get it fixed.

Lol, yes fixing a laptop can be a real pain. But why would you send it in to fix a fan?... Theyed probly charge you alot x.x I have fixed many laptops before (yes experience makes it easier) but you just have to be careful/delicate. Remeber their small fragile parts. And just do what these guys siad, get the manual and part number order it on ebay and replace it. The hd can be bought at tigerdirect.com or newegg or anyother computer store you might know.
For me those are the cheapest |
