Imo it's a great thing to have a good reputation. It's another thing to know WHY a person has a good reputation.

Like 2 years ago, I didn't know nething about who Jessmop was. He has the highest Rep number on the site atm that I know of. But if you ask me, it's helpful for newer members to know why someone is respected/trusted.

Granted the rep system we have has a few flaws, but I think it's a nice feature. Sets the site apart from others, and adds even more appeal to this already great site.

it lets the new users get some idea of a person ( comments are in the details )
it does have a few flaws but its better then not having one

even if it means little the comments help some
its much better to see a little detail in the rep then nothing at all like some other sites

though if a user gets perm banned it shouldnt refect on the total rep
maybe still show the review in details if you look for comments
but not on the overall number ( this way if a person is unbanned it goes back to the total of others )

and @jessmop
your right there are more important issues then this
but we must fight for that little thumbs up icon

i like the rep as well... as i said before... only mods should be able to lower people's rep so if they scam or do something bad people will know by their reps...

and another reason no... is because members long before you tried really hard to get those reps in the first place... so if you get rid of themm they might just quit this site... or flam YOU where ever you go lol smile
