So ok, i have a router and 3 computers - does this mean I have 3 different IPs out to the public or does it mean that there's just ONE IP on the other side?
and is there a way to checkzor it?

I think that you have only one external ip, most people do. How does your computers connect to the internet?

what company made your router? By the sound of it you are connecting through one line. Therefor I can assume that you have only one external ip. Also each of your computers should have their own ip. This is just your ip on your network.

to the outside bob you would have 1 ip address

to the inside you would have 4 ip address

1 to each pc

and 1 to the router

the inside addres would start with one of the following

192

or

172

or

10

the outside could start as any outside ip address depending on what your ip provider assigned you

however you may not keep your outside the same all the time it depends on how your ip provider is set up

brain you only have 1 ip at a time

however ip providers rarly assign you the same one forever it will change some ( unless you pay for a static ip )

also bob or brain catch me on msn sometime and i can send you some videos on the matter
( i have like hours of videos on everything networking includeing ip address's and such )
