i dont want fg cause i have no use for them anyways...
but ...

if you have another computer you can pull out the hard drive and put it in to another computer temperarily to extract that files that you want...
but if you dont have another computer... can you go in to doss with a floppy?

nothing? you don't get a splash screen or a boot screen before the XP or Vista load screen?

the only way to recover his files is to move his hard drive to another comp
