If not, do you think this is a good idea?

Personally, I'm pro, but it seems like it would allow hacking. yet lanning is going the way oft he dinosaur.

no one LANs it up anymore because no one plays. You could just do a single-player re-creation of a character with an editor, which im sure would come out quicly after the release of DIII

I think they already stated that there will be no LAN feature in D3.
Only SP and Battle.net.
