Ok, in 1981 ronald reagan reformed the social security survivor benefits to stop at age 18. before this period it continued on if you went to college, if you didnt it ended when you were out of highschool.

Minor backstory to explain why i need to vent:
I have received social security survivor benefits for 11 years, when my father died my stepmother took all the life insurance all of his workers comp and blew it on stupid material possessions (motorcycles, pools, drugs, alcohol, etc). I had 15,000 saved for college since i was 10 (odd jobs etc) now my step father took that money to buy a god damn tractor (ya thats right, 15k for a used tractor).

Fastforward 10 years from 1981:

Fastforward 18 years from 1981:
My social security documents stated that if i enrolled in a post secondary school before my benefits ran out that they would continue into college(its not a large some of money, i was getting around 250$ a month). Yet in 1981 this was reformed.

Why has SS lied to me for 11 years? saying they would help only to say they wont?


Fastforward to yesterday.

Full sail university contacted me and told me my parents would have to help with more of my college, even though the FAFSA stated that we are poor as fuck.

So heres my question:
If college expects my parents to help. how is my father to help me? Does the american government think that the second someone graduates from highschool or turns 18 they dishone their family and never speak to them again?

O and lets not forget the 300$ i still have to pay to SS because they added 5$ to some of my checks on accident... yes because its not my fault i have to pay.

Am i going to continue getting penalized for things that i have no control over?

social security is handed out way to much and often to the wrong people

such as ebt food cards are normaly always held by really really fat women that don't want to work a day in there life or ever try to have anything heck why would they if they get it given to them

though your stepfather shouldnt of stolen your money
