You can gain reputation by being polite or helpful to users.
Other members have tried in the past to exchange Forum Gold for reputation but to no avail.
There is a little by everyone's post which will let you score that particular post, thus giving reputation. On everyone's profile page there is also a thumb, but you had to fulfill a post amount to give reputation at all.

Members gain .50 Forum Gold for every post they make in the forum, excluding Battlefield and Holiday posts. I advise you stay away from 'Fg for rep' ploys.
