Here's how i see it. I'm going to be breaking it down into West and East. The teams to beat: Lakers and Cavs. The teams you should never count out: Spurs and Celtics (although their older they have lots of experience). The young and athletic team: Thunder and Hawks. The dark horse teams: Utah, Dallas and Magic. The team that if they win they won because of that "guy": Nuggets and Heat. To me with Bynum out the West is up for grabs, Kobe is not playing anywhere near the level he was playing last year. East is Cavs to lose, their have all the pieces and the best player in the game so they don't have any excuse not to win it all this year. Prediction: Dallas vs Cavs, Cavs win in 6

I'm going to go more in depth of each matchup now that we know whos playing who.
I'm going to start with the Eastern Conference
Cleveland Cavaliers(1) vs Chicago Bulls(8): This is Lebron's year. The only team that could see beating the Cavs is the Cavs. I could see the Cavs having a little chemistry issue and incorporating everyone back into the lineup, but not enough to give them any trouble with the Bulls. Prediction: Cavs in 5 games.
Orlando Magic(2) vs Charlotte Bobcats(7): If you love watching good defense and a low scoring game, then this is your game. These two team rank top 5 in defensive. This series will come down to whether or not Magics hit their threes. I could see the Magic having a shooting slump for one or two games but not four. Prediction: Magic in 6 games.
Atlanta Hawks(3) vs Milwaukee Bucks(6): This is probably going to be the worst series of the eight. Bucks will be without Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut. The Hawks have just too many weapons offensively with Bibby, Johnson and Crawford, and defensively with Smith, Horford and Williams, plus home court advantage. Prediction: Hawks in 5 games.
Boston Celtics(4) vs Miami Heat(5): This series is going to come down to how the refs calls the fouls. If they call the game tight, then we're going to see Dwade at the line a lot. If they call the game loose, Boston will win. I think homecourt will be big in this series. Prediction: Boston in 7 games.

Western Conference
Los Angeles Lakers(1) vs Oklahoma City Thunder(8): This match up boils down to one guy. Kobe Bryant, if he decides to be a play maker and gets his team mates involved this series will be over real quick. If he decides to do too much by himself and throw up +30 shots, then lets just say they are in for a long night. Prediction: Lakers in 6 games.
Dallas Mavericks(2) vs San Antonio Spurs(7): Most anticipated series for me, both teams are evenly matched. Point guards-> Kidd vs Parker. Parker is still coming back from an injury so the edge goes to Kidd. Shooting guards-> Butler vs Bogans. Advantage goes to Bulter, he's a proven scorer who's still getting use to his team. Small Forward-> Marion vs Jefferson. These guys are the x-factors, guys would do all the dirty work. Power Forward-> Dirk vs Duncan. This is the matchup to watch, both of these guys are future hall of famers and the player that out plays the other will win the series. Bench-> Terry vs Ginobili. Both of these guys will come off the bench and score in bunches. Advantage goes to Ginobili who has been playing lights out of late. Prediction: Dallas in 7 games.
Phoenix Suns(3) vs Portland Trail Blazers(6): If Brandon Roy plays and his injury doesn't hold him back, then this will be a good series. For now its not looking good for Roy. Suns in 5 games.
Denver Nuggets(4) vs Utah Jazz(5): I think this series will also come down to refs. If Carmelo gets his calls=Denver will win, if they can keep him off the foul line and make him take +30 shots to get 30 points=Utah wins. Prediction: Utah in 7 games.

Round 2
Even though round 1 isn't completely finished, round 2 starts today.
Cleveland Cavs vs Boston Celtics: Boston defense will look very similar in the first round. They will trap, double, triple Lebron James and make someone else beat them. Too bad for the Celtics the Cavs role players are much better than the Heat role players. Cavs have too many weapons inside and outside, not to mention the best player in the game. Prediction: Cavs in 6 games.
LA Lakers vs Utah Jazz: Lakers are too big and long for Utah. Without Okur to stretch the defense, Lakers will be crowding the middle, making it very difficult down low. If Utah can steal one game at the Staple Center then this will be a very interesting series. Prediction: Lakers in 6 games.
Phoenix Suns vs San Antonio Spurs: Best series of round 2 in my opinion. If you look at history then the Spurs have the Suns number, but since the all stars break the Suns have been the hottest team going into the playoffs. This series comes down to over 100 or under 100, ff Spurs can keep the Suns under 100 they win, if not they lose. Prediction: Spurs in 7 games.

Orlando Magics vs Atlanta Hawks: Hawks are a major underdog in this series. Three key things the hawks need to do to win the series. One they need to contest every three pointer, the magic attemp the most of any team. Two they need to block out Dwight Howard and prevent him from getting offensive rebounds. Third they need to attack the basketball and get Dwight Howard in foul trouble. If they can do all that then they have a chance. Prediction: Magics in 6 games.

La Lakers vs Phoenix Suns: Suns are my surprised team of the playoffs. They have something they never had in their previous years, decent defense and good bench. Unfortunately the Suns will have to play even better if they want to beat the Lakers.
3 Keys for Lakers victory
1) Transition defense, run back on every play
2) Pick n roll defense, contain Nash and make him a shooter not a passer
3) 3 pointer defense, contest each shot

3 Keys for Suns victory
1) Rebound, do not give Lakers second chances
2) Do not foul, force kobe to beat you with jumpers
3) Suns bench must contribute like they have in the Spurs and Blazers series.

Prediction: Lakers in 6 games.

Boston Celtics vs Orlando Magic: Wow all I have to say about the Cavs and Boston series is best team> best player
3 Keys to Boston victory
1) Contest every three pointer
2) Contain Dwight Howard, no offensive rebounds and no easy dunks.
3) Attack the basket, play inside out not outside in.

3 Keys to Magic victory
1) Jameer Nelson must continue to play like an all star
2) Contain Rondo, make him become a shooter not a playmaker.
3) Dwight Howard must i mean must make his free throws, expect him to shoot +10 free throws each game.
Prediction: Boston in 7 games.

Yeah, I was really tempted on picking the magics but they live and die by the three.

Let me rephrase. "Thats the way magic should have played since game 1." I completely agree Magics can beat Boston they just need to play their game. Winner of game 6= winner of the series. As for the Lakers series, unlike many Lakers fan I am very worried about game 5. Lakers had 3-1 lead last time they met in the playoffs and what happen. Lakers went home.

LA Lakers vs Boston Celtics preview

3 Keys to Lakers victory
1) The bench must come in and contribute. The better the bench= the longer the rest
2) Get Gasol the ball! This guy could easily be the number one guy on 25 other teams. He is very efficient, shoots at a high percentage, good passer, great pick and roll player and a solid defender.
3) Artest and Fisher must shoot the ball at a high percentage. Except these two to get a lot of open three pointers off of double teams from Kobe. Its a make or miss league.

3 Keys to Boston victory
1) Make Kobe earn his points shooting jumpers not freethrows. You can live with him taking contested 20 foot jumpers.
2) Take away all of Lakers role players. If Boston has done one thing well it is this. They will let Dwade, Lebron, Howard get all their points but no one else.
3) Rondo must be ready to take jumpers or attack the basket. Kobe will most likely be guarding him and if so he will be playing off of Rondo. Rondo must be ready to take and make his jumpers.

Prediction: The phrase offensive wins games, defense wins championships. I hate to say this but as long as Boston players stay healthy and out of foul trouble, I'm going Boston. Boston in 7 games.

Thoughts on the finals so far: These referees have to let these players play, this is playoff basketball.

Game one: Allen in foul trouble--> Lakers win
Game two: Kobe in foul trouble--> Celtics win
Game three: Pierce in foul trouble--> Lakers win
Fans pay big bucks to see these players play not to sit on the bench.
