Lakers are one game away from being eliminated in the finals and for some reason I knew this would happen. One of Kobe's greatest skill as a player is also one of the team's greatest weakness, and that is his ability to take and make very difficult shots. People think that when Kobe catches fire it is over for the other team, but in my opinion its the exact opposite.
Here is a shot summary of what happen in game 5.
Kobe catches fire--> Kobe takes more shots
More shots--> Less touches for teammate
Less touches--> more ball watching
more ball watching--> less movement on offensive
Less movement on offensive--> Less movement on defense
Lakers top 3 scorers
1) Kobe-38
2) Gasol-12
3) Fisher-9
Celtics top 3 scorers
1) Pierce-27
2) Garnett-18
3) Rondo-18
As great as Kobe played game 5, he never gave any of his teammates a chance to get into any rhythm. Hopefully Gasol will get more than 12 touches in game 6 or there will not be any parade in LA this year. |

| Final thoughts on the NBA finals. Congrats to the Lakers on their victory over the Celtics. As a Laker fan I am ecstatic for the Lakers winning their 16th title. Though as a basketball player I am disappointed in the way they won. Kobe Bryant took 15 free throws, while the whole Boston team took 17. The referees were definitely on the Lakers side this game. That being said overall I thought the season and playoffs went well. I'm not happy with the refs but who is. For anyone who follows me on sports, I'll be focusing on the World Cup: http://www.d3jsp.org/viewtopic.php?t=35246 feel free to post any comments or thoughts. |
