Yes, it's only possible with the apocalypse premium feature using the /swap command. I have been doing this all day last week, since it's awesome playing as the computer, so this is where you might have seen it happen. Hope that helps.

(Also, if you are going to do it, play as the zerg with multicommand since protoss have a much harder time winning)
