I already have one on my comp, but i need another.
I've already tried putting my cd key on another battle.net account and downloading it, but it wouldn't let me install it again. I don't have the cds either.

There are a couple ways to do this:
1. D2NT (3.0+) + Serby's CD-Key Changer
- Download D2NT and Serby's CD-Key Changer.
- Click "NEW CDKEY FILE"
- Follow instructions (Be sure to remember the file name)
- Open D2NT
- Click "Add"
- Type in a profile name (doesn't matter), account name (doesn't matter), where it says CDKey type in the new MPQ file you made with the key changer (with .mpq at the end (ex. Key1.mpq)), also set the path
- Where it says "Entry Point", set that to "Loader only"
- Click "OK"
- Click "Run"
For the second method:
~~WARNING~~
It would be easier to have someone do this for you via TeamViewer if you don't know what you're doing, since this requires registry editing.
- Click "Start"
- Click "Run" or type in regedit (depending on XP / Vista / 7)
- If XP now type in regedit
- Click on the + beside HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Click on the + beside Software
- Click on the + beside Blizzard Entertainment
- Right click on the Diablo II folder and click Delete
- Click on the - beside HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Click on the + beside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- Click on the + beside SOFTWARE
- Click on the + beside Blizzard Entertainment
- Right click on the Diablo II folder and click Delete
- Close Registry Editor
- Install Diablo II but make sure to install to a different directory (ex. C:\Program Files\Diablo II-2)
You now have 2 copies ^^
The first method is a lot better on your computer since it takes up minimal disk space required to another installation. _____________________

Myoga:
Your 2nd method works but with one problem - you are making updating D2 installations difficult. There is no need to remove registry enries.
Since it is so much easier to download and install via the installers, the easiest way is to rename the 'Blizzard Entertainment' folder to 'Blizzard Entertainment - Install1' - and then install your second copy. Then, if there is a patch, you simply rename this folder when a new update is required. I have 5 installations and this method works very well for me.
Sandboxie is also the best way to run multiple D2's - like i said I run 5 bots at once without rd's or any other problems.' |
