When we reputate someone, we could give him a +1 or -1.
So if the person have +10 rep, this would mean 10 positive rep
So scammers could have like - X rep
I think this would just be helpful

i say no only cuz some scammers have other acc on here so they can get +1 from them, so ppl will think ya there good and bam scammed

Actually no negative reps are allowed to be repped. The old saying goes "If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say nothing"

As for the negative reps idea it is a good idea but it was implemented and abused.

how is that different from what it is right now? (it's not) you're just outlining a different type of problem that this suggestion doesn't claim to address in the first place.

I think we should change rep button from thumb up to something else becose it can be confusing - people may think the bigger number you have the better member you are but its diferent...

tram said this was implemented in the past and it was abused, people left bad reps for fun so everyone had lots of bad rep and no good reps at all

The reputation is only for good reputations.
There was some time ago a + and - rep system as you suggest i suggest it when i was new to the site.
Then i heard this system failed and they left the system as you see it know.
