It doesn't matter if it would be confidential. Humans are flawed. You are blurring the lines between the virtual world and the real world. I call people faggots, niggers, assholes, and whatever else I please on here because I know that shit can't be traced back to me.
I don't know if any of you remember this, but njaguar actually emailed someone's boss because njaguar and the dude disagreed on a subject in the religion forum.
If you require people to prove they are worthy of using a site that barely has 200 users a day, you are going to scare away 95% of anyone who is trying to join.

I agree the S/T section has a lot of flaws but I don't think this is the right approach.

-Emails/facebooksaccounts etc can be faked. cellphones can use prepaid cards etc. It's not possible to make sure the person is who he/she claims to be.
-A scammer that goes through the process would probably look more trustworthy than other "non verified legit users" and be able to pull off bigger scams.
-Even if you know the identity of the person it doesn't protect you against chargebacks or stolen giftcards etc.
-If you do a trade involving virtual items/services you can never prove you delivered the item to the right person. They can always claim non-delivered or unauthorized (if they used proxy). If they ain't able to do it through, for example, paypal they can still do it through their bank.

-Moderators on this site are more trusted than other users, but in the end you can't trust anyone you don't know personally when it involves real money/identities. Circumstances might change for a normally trustworthy person as well, forcing them to do things they don't want to...

@peanut the main deatils here are phone + picture verifying is verifing its a person i haven't posted full details here however it would be very hard if not impossible for the same person to get 2 verifyed accounts ( without a friend to verify the second one for him )

Well frankly, the net is totally overfilled with pictures of people...facebook, youtube, twitter etc. A picture simply wouldn't prove anything. Maybe if you had them hold a paper with the date and nickname written when they take the picture...
If the same moderator called everyone and remembered everyones' voices the phonethingy could work ofc. But I doubt that's possible.

But let's say it would work...what would it solve?
Scammers would most likely be more eager than anyone to get a verified tag to look more trustworthy. And even if you knew the identity it wouldnt protect against chargeback scams.

the point is to prevent things in teh future and they would be requried to have there internet name written on something in the pic that was stated
as for the phone bit its more to keep a list of number already verifyed a person couldnt be verifed agian if the number had already been used twice and its kinda hard to go just buy a phone just for it also we could record the phone call for the voice to comapre if we were suspicous

at first yes all scammers could get verifyed once ( as it isn't a trusted tag )
but then if they scammed and got locked getting it a second time would be hard without a friend to help them which often scammers don't have
