Math problem

My math teacher gave me a math problem but I can't figure it out.Anyone want to try it?

problem:

SLSS students Ted and Amanda are eating lunch when they are joined by Mike. Amanda has 5 sandwiches, Ted has 3 sandwiches, and Mike has none. They all share equally in the meal. If Mike pays $4.00 for what he ate, how should the money be divided between Amanda and Ted?

so they have 8 sandwiches in total, and mike paid 4$ for the 8/3 sandwitches he ate?

Couldnt u just divide the 4$ in 5/8 and 3/8? since they have 8 in total, and thats how much amanda and ted supplied anyways
