Yup so I did an Ambulance Ride along for a work expereince class in my school.
So I went for 1 day shift and two night shifts (12 hour days, total of 36 hours)
I got to experience so many different aspects of the job, that eeven the paramedics I was with were like your one lucky guy, except that there were 3 deaths and only 1 other person that has done the ride along has seen a dead person. So anyways I loved it so much like its hard to explain how excited it was, i was happy even telling my parents what I had done that day and I couldn't stop thinking about it. So basically I am going to try and become a paramedic. Well I will become one, and if I don't like it once I actually have a job. I can always switch! _____________________

I did EMT training. I'm pretty sure you need to go through basic before you can do paramedic, unless you're going into firefighting, which, by the way, I would advise. Most cities combine their firefighting and ambulance services into one, so you'll be doing both and making a better living. Plus, honestly, the firefighters have pretty good lifestyles. 24 hours every 3 days isn't too bad when you're with a bunch of friends.
I had a shift (not just ride along, I had to do work) during Easter last year. It was actually pretty awesome. We set up their TVs in their living room and played Halo in between ambulance runs.
So, bottom line, do it through firefighting. |

i know what training I need. Im Canadian so yea. The firefighting is seperated from ambulance in ways but tied together in other ways. I just want to make peoples lives better. And yea its BLS (Basica life Support) which only requires grade 12 and then theres ALS (Advanced life support) which is 2 years of university. _____________________
