I am only looking for real help till I get my answer then you guys can spam it and whatever.
I am currently renting a room in a house. Paying $500 a month
I moved in Aug 24th. Didn't pay anything till Sept 2nd. I paid the full $500. I didn't give any deposit. I havn't hung 1 picutre up. So no holes or anything what so ever.
I did repair the wall socket in the wall cause it was broken and unsafe. And I fixed the closest doors so they could slide perfectly.
I live in California, USA. She said because I gave my notice she said she has to replace all the door locks to the whole house after I give the key and change the code to the alarm. The alarm code change won't cost anything cause its simply you just push buttons and it will change it.
My legal question is:
I moved in Aug 24th. I am moving out Sept 13th. Not a full month. If was week to week she would owe me $180 back. But I am saying to keep it and put it towards deposit stuff. I havn't touched anything in the place. She is going to I guess get a price on replacing the looks on the doors and change the code and will probably try and get more money from me.
I want to know does she have any legal able to charge money to change the locks? I say, No. And the reason I say no is because in apartments when you move out they don't change the locks. They don't take any money from the deposit for it.
The deposit is for cleaning, repairing, and getting it ready for next person or people.
So what I am thinking is. I am moving out tommorow. I am going to pack all my shit into my car tommorow. And she said tommorow when I get back from the shop in the morning that she will figure money out, hint hint wants more money. So what I am thinking is when she says ok I need like $100 for the locks and bull shit excusses she can come up with. I will just say ok. I won't sign anything for it. And I will just say i only have like 5 bucks on me right now. I will go run to the bank.
then going to the bank I am not going to the bank. I am going to just leave and be gone. peace unicorn BITCH!!!!!
here are the following reasons I am moving out:
My dog peed on the leg of a couch - Their dog shits in front of my bedroom door.
I am white, they are white, I brought over a friend who is black. And they said next day he can't come back basicly because of the color of his skin. so they are racist thats another reason.
They think they can use me to do work around the house for free. Pull bushs, Weed wack, pick up dog shit, bring in and out the trash every week.
My dog humps their dog and they yell at me to tell him to stop. But then their dog humps my dog, oh its ok he is just getting revenge on my dog...
The daughter that lives here with the mother thinks she can just butt in and tell me what to do and how to raise my dog and shit like that. She is only 16. the mother is 47.
I been here 3 weeks and I havn't been able to use the laundry machine once yet. I am now out of clean clothes.
I havn't been really able to cook anything cause they always using kitchen or the sink is full of dishs.
They say access to use BBQ but its new junk.
anyone have any advice on what i can say or do when she tries to say some shit about oweing her money for anything?
$500 a month.
Lived here from Aug 24th to Sept 13th
I havn't given anything else but the 500 for rent. And there is nothing to clean or anything need touching because I am leaving the place in better condition than when I moved in. _____________________

Contact the health department if the house is nasty and there are dirty dishes with food and cigs on them and dirty glasses laying around.
If she gets the money to take you to court then your arguement will be they are racist and made derogitory comments to your black friend based on his race.
You witnessed them abusing your dog.
You were required to pick up dog shit and they would not provide you with a pair of gloves to do the job.
The 47 yr old woman liked to make sexual suggestions to you and it scared you.
They stayed up at night and you could not sleep well at night causing you complications at your job.
Make sure it states in your contract you were liable for the additional charges for the cost of replacing the locks.
Makes sure you have pics of the place after you left.
Make sure you note or bring pics if you have them of the condition of the living conditions of the house / family and your room.
Make note to provide times ( made up but essentially factual since they are wrote down ) of the times you wanted to use the kitchen or cooking devices and washing machine and dryer.
Make sure it's stated in the contract ( if there is one ) that you would have all access to kitchen and bath and food facilities on site.
Make sure ( if taken to court ) you emphasize how depreciated your life had become and the trama it has caused in your life.
And how it may have effected your employment quality and your way of life.
Let the judge know your an upstanding citizen and you feel as though you were mislead and the actual living conditions were not up to par with your living standards. _____________________
