Sublime with rome, is the new name. The original members of the awe inspiring phenomenon that was sublime have teamed up with a new singer/guitarist to continue the legend of sublime. When Bradley Nowell died of a drug overdose in 1996 the band had never really gotten to perform the songs that have sold 5 times platinum records. After Falling into a path of self destruction following Bradley's death the band resorted to alcohol to ease the loss of their friend, band mate, and their shot. It took 15 years for the members to finally sober up. After the sobering period they decided it was time to resurrect the songs that changed a generation and continue with the legacy. They recruited a young guitar player from fremont california named Rome Ramirez (born june 11, 1988.... the same year sublime started). Please youtube them "sublime with rome" and check them out, tell me your opinions.
My personal opinion:
It is definitly not bradley but the music is still beautiful and deserves notice. Rome does an excellent job vocally and guitarwise. I fear his fame will always be marred by the fact that he replaced brad, Unfortunatly he didnt really replace him, He is merely carrying on the legacy that brad started. How many 7th graders and the like have heard sublime? without renewed interest and publicity these children and many children to come can come to enjoy the music that was sublime. For example, walk into a high school and visit 7-9th graders, ask them who nirvana is. Most will tell you they dont know, or they will blather about heart shaped box (they played it on guitar hero). Do they know the power of lithium, the genius of polly?
I understand allowing greaving time but i think 15 years has been enough, i think its time for sublime to come back and spread the word. I think this is also a breakthrough to allow other bands to continue on. I would love nothing more than to be able to see led zeppelin live in concert. John Bonham's son Jason Bonham is a great drummer and he has and would do justice to the band. Should we let these legends slowly simmer until they are completely gone from the world? or should we drop these notions that only the original member can make the music, so that the legacy can continue. I for one would rather have a new member of the band than let the Greats drift into oblivion.

| im only 16 years old. i grew up with Sublime cuz my dad is only 32 years old and thats the shit he grew up on so i listened 2 sublime 24/7 and still do. it be sweet if i got 2 go 2 a Sublime concert even if it wasnt with Bradley still be really cool. i have all the sublime cd's and shirts XD |

this is what its all about, sharing music through generations and creating a bond through that music. Please i do not mean to offend but, the memory and the music will last longer than your father. Long after he is gone you will be sitting with your kids and a sublime song will come on the oldies station and you wil think back to your padre.
Granted its not brad, but ya know its a good substitute. All in all, if they come near me im going! i just hope they write some new music instead of just playing the old stuff.
