Is there a bigger population of people playing on pc or cons

Is there a bigger population of people playing on pc or console both playing the same games?
For instance black ops has roughly 500,000 people playing everyday an more on the weekend. My question is: On average are there more/same/or less players on the pc playing black ops or any other console game. Please provide some sort of evidence not just an opinion cause Im considering buying a pc or console but I want to join the bigger population. Thanks

Console, because my vote showed that 621,136,876 internationally played console gaming systems over pc.

i would say pc just for the fact that you have a shit tons more variety with online games one being MMORPG,console gaming has a lot of FPS like black ops and MW2 that right there makes up a big population on the console gaming online,try playing FF and waiting 3 hours for a party plus PC has left for dead,counter-strike,unreal tournament and tons more which are still very populated..plus graphics are WAY better on PC than on a console

PS3
and gaming PC

so from experience in the online gaming community your best bet would to be go with a PC
