Making this thread for m'mate Giantbob, wherein we share and discuss various Asian cinema (of the non-Kurosawa variety.)
First off (since it came up in conversation,) a few recommendations for action/comedy martial arts films.
Legend of Fong Sai Yuk (1993) (American title: The Legend)
Starring: Jet Li
Director: Corey Yuen
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106936
Classic showcase of Jet Li's wuxia movies, alongside of wonderfully timed slapstick comedy.
Sing Si Lip Yan (1993) (American title: City Hunter)
Starring: Jackie Chan
Director: Jing Wong
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103950
Quite possibly, THE hardest working man in martial arts action/comedy. With an acting career that spans over 30 years (!!!), you know what to expect. Be on the lookout for a scene that gives a nod to the arcade classic Street Fighter...
Kung Fu Hustle
Starring: Stephen Chow
Director: Stephen Chow
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0373074
The man who is revolutionizing the Kung Fu action/comedy genre. Chow is like the Quentin Tarantino of his genre, giving a wink and a nod in homage to other movies in his work. Last edited by ChowYunFat on 01 Jun 2012 12:26 pm; edited 2 times in total _____________________

Heh; no worries, mate. Li has a looong list of movies under his belt.
For example, compare his work in Fist of Legend (1994, director Gordon Chan):
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110200/
with Hero (2002, director Yimou Zhang):
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0299977/
You have the standard "Martial Arts action movie" compared to a MA epic, similar in scope to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. _____________________
