well you need to give more info
i assume your connection is SATA...
and what do you have now. you're looking to upgrade your current?
as far as OS goes... linux is DA SHEET.
but windows 7 is a solid OS

I just built a new computer.
I held off on the OS and hard drive.
Ofc SATA
Also, I'm using it for gaming. So I'm not sure if I should go with 500GB / 1tb / 2tb
And if the RPM would make a difference for a gaming console. PLUS if the cache for a 32 or 64 is actually worth looking into or if it's just a 'gimmick'. |

yes the rpm is important for a gaming rig.
size is just preference for the most part.
what is your budget?
as far as os
linux is great. has the best support, constant updates (legit ones, not windows update bullshit)
smooth look and there are SO MANY different ones tweaked for different usage
my hard drive is partitioned with Ubuntu and Windows 7.
it is weird at first, because you probably grew up using windows your whole life but once you get the feel for it it's a MUCH better os.

For the hard drive and OS.. I'm not really worried about budget.
I'm just trying to get a medium if not nice piece for both.
Some people say 1TB is more than enough and others say they use 1TB easily..
I'd rather not spend anymore than 110 USD on a hard drive. And I don't need SSD. |

well 1tb is WAY more then enough for gaming.
i have a 750gb and its about 400gb full.
(about 20gb are games, the majority of it is movies and shows)
so if you download a lot of stuff like... pics, music, movies, apps then yeah get a 1tb
if you don't really do that, then 500gb would be more then enough.
ill surf newegg right now.
idk if you pirate shit, but you can get windows os free. (illegal, but who cares)
or linux is 100% free and fully supported
so as far as that goes... paying for an os is silly. _____________________

Wouldn't bother pirating OS.
WD is good for hard drives, but I feel like seagate would be cheaper and just as good of quality for a 1TB compared to the 750gb |

check the rpm tho
that last one is 10000 O_O
for a gaming rig size isn't much of a deal. _____________________
